The Informatics Nuse is responsible for coordinating, implementing and maintaining the Clinical Information System operations to ensure consistency with Bon Secours Charity philosophy, goals and compliance with clinical practices and strategic objectives. Acts as a liaison between IS and the clinical areas of the facilities, Enterprise Bon Secours Charity teams and outside vendors. Performs analysis and implementation of computer applications for Nursing documentation and information tracking to ensure end users' compliance of standards. Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practices to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer applications and to ensure the information systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice.

Responsibilities:

• Works collaboratively with the department directors/managers at Bon Secours Charity.
• Demonstrable knowledge in clinical workflows.
• A basic level of technical knowledge to support computers, networks, and other devices associated with documenting in the Connect Care system.
• An understanding of clinical processes and terminology to support staff and physicians.
• Interpersonal skills: Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with physicians, nurses, administration, and other staff members.
• Works with Nursing Administration in an advisory capacity to assess and plan for new information systems.
• Assists in the evaluation of new clinical software applications and products.
• Develops specifications for system capabilities and enhancements.
• Participates in product demonstrations and site visits.
• Provides consultative services regarding workflow processes and technological solutions.
• Provides End User support.
• Coordinates pre and post implementation activities of clinical system installations in accordance with Bon Secours Charity standards.
• Assists in the development of training manuals, system documentation and procedure development.
• Coordinates and assists in quality assurance testing of clinical systems software and assists in end user issue resolution.
• Participates in departmental surveys and impact analysis.
• Participates, identifies and formulates policies and procedures associated with clinical information systems.
• Coordinates and assists in the testing of new applications and procedures and upgrades to existing systems.
• Participates in Clinical User groups and Charity Patient Care Leadership meetings and guides team efforts toward problem resolution and system optimization.
• Represents the Charity Market in Bon Secours Mercy Enterprise level User Groups.
• Participates in change management process to insure communication occurs when clinical processes are changed.
• Identifies opportunities for process re-engineering within Nursing and coordinates the implementation of same.
• Participates in project management processes to include project documentation, monitoring of overall project progress, project communication, and management and escalation of project issues to appropriate decision making bodies as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: Previous Informatics experience and 2-5 years of Nursing practice experience required.

Education: Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Nursing Informatics and/or ANCC Informatics Certification strongly preferred.

Licenses / Certifications:

Must possess a limited permit to practice nursing, issued by the New York State Education Department, or a valid license and current registration, issued by the New York State Education Department, as a Registered Nurse.
