Summary:
The Intake Coordinator is a valuable team member of the Infusion & Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Department within Akron Children's Home Care. The Intake Coordinator has great communication skills and works diligently to help families obtain needed medical supplies to care for their children. The Intake Coordinator spends the day communicating and working closely with Case Managers, Providers, Patient Families, and Payer Sources, as directed by the Infusion/DME Team's needs.
Responsibilities:

- Answering phones to facilitate care for patients with Infusion/DME needs.
- Processing new referrals for patients with DME needs.
- Assists and supports the Intake Specialists/Hospital Coordinators with new referrals needs, case management tracking, and obtaining subsequent authorization.
- Works within payer source website portals or via the phone verifying patients benefits and obtaining authorization.
- Competency working within electronic health records.
- Facilitates great customer service for patients and their families.
- Other duties as needed within Infusion/DME
Other information:
Technical Expertise
1.Experience in Medical terminology is required.
2.Thorough documentation skills required.
3. Positive and helpful communication skills required
4.Experience in healthcare is preferred.
5.Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word].
6. Positive team player.
Education and Experience
1.Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required Bachelor's degree is preferred.
2.Certification: None
3. Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred.
4. Years of experience supervising: None.
