The Certified Medication Aide, CMA dispenses medications under the direction of the Resident Care Director and helps residents with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, toileting, feeding, moving safely to activities or functions, and caring for the resident's environment, including laundry and housekeeping. He or she must be sensitive to the needs and desires of each resident and make an attempt to improve and enrich their lives. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, current certification as a Nursing Assistant and a Registered Medication Aide in this state preferred, certification in CPR/AED/First Aid preferred, and at least two years of experience, preferably in a long term care setting or assisted living community. Candidates must have a genuine desire to help others and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispenses medications under the direction of a licensed nurse according to established procedures
Helps resident with all personal care functions as needed
Helps resident at mealtimes and monitors resident’s eating habits
Helps resident to and from daily activities
Cleans and organizes the resident’s room and assists with laundry
Measures and records vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, etc., and reports any changes in condition
Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
Communicates with residents and families regarding care
Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Supervises the Residents medications under the direction of the Resident Care Director according to established procedures

Qualifications
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED with further training to achieve certification
Certified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in this state
Certified as Registered Medication Aide in this state, preferred
At least two years of experience in an assisted living community preferred
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications a plus
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
