Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Provide high level clinical services and support for patients with complex disease states. Serve as a liaison between pharmacy and multidisciplinary team, ensure accurate third party billing, direct specialty pharmacy workflow and participate in development of policies and procedures for specialty pharmacy business.
Responsibilities
Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition, organ function, and concomitant therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes with high focus on disease states requiring specialty medications. Provide high level clinical education to patients on complex disease states. Documents all activities and communicates as appropriate.
Maintain expert knowledge of insurance billing, prior authorizations, and requirements based upon individual plans for specialty medication. Ensure Medicare B and all insurance billing is completed according to regulations. Manage patient assistance including enrollment in copay cards, foundations and grants. Successfully manage all third party audits.
Collaborate with members of multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient drug therapy such as appropriate medications, formulary preferred medications, and avoidance of drug interactions.
Directs and manages workflow in focused area of pharmacy practice. Activities include oversight of pharmacists, technicians, interns, and volunteers ensuring the accuracy of their work in accordance with departmental procedures and Federal and State regulations.
Serves as a lead on the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures for specialty pharmacy business.
