You Will Be Responsible For:
Communicate via telephone & two way radio
Obtain IAHSS Basic Certification
Safely drives a variety of vehicles
Monitors CCTV system
Sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
Speak, read, and write English proficiently
Uses various computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word to write reports and record activity
Carries proper equipment at all times, generally done with a waist belt weighing up to 25lbs
Works in a wide variety of climate conditions including extreme heat and cold.
Answers telephone requests for security assistance or shuttle bus
Establishes and maintains control of violent or potentially violent situations
Investigates suspicious activity and persons
Locks internal and external doors as scheduled
Maintains radio communication with security dispatch
Moves unattended vehicles under unusual circumstances
Observes and reports all safety hazards
Works in an environment where you may be punched, kicked, bit or otherwise attacked.
Engage in strenuous physical confrontations with people.
Holds patients or applies restraints to beds by kneeling or bending at the waist
Subdue and control violent persons which may require wrestling on the floor.
Patrol assigned areas of the campus and associated buildings
Pick up or release patient valuables per policy
Prepares written reports on security incidents utilizing a database report system
Provides escorts or information assistance to persons as needed
Provides motorist assistance to persons on campus (excluding changing tires)
Receives and releases persons from the morgue and insures proper completion of paperwork
Responds to all calls for security assistance
Responds to all fire, duress, panic, and/or intrusion alarms
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Possesses judgement sufficient to make “Use of Force” decisions quickly and appropriately
Ability to investigate and gather information related to high risk events
Ability to write reports related to high risk events
Safely drive a variety of vehicles
Possesses judgement sufficient to make decisions to apply laws, policies, and procedures applicable to deadly force in a high stress incident
Speak, read, and write English proficiently
Uses various computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word to write reports and record activity
Must possess excellent customer service skills
Enforces parking regulations on a fair and consistent basis in all lots
Ability to establish and maintain control of violent or potentially violent situations
Works in an environment where you may be punched, kicked, bit or otherwise attacked.
Ability to engage in strenuous physical confrontations with people.
Holds patients or applies restraints to beds by kneeling or bending at the waist
Subdue and control violent persons which may require wrestling on the floor.
Ability to pass a psychological examination from the department specified licensed professional
Qualifications

High school diploma required
Associates Degree in security or law enforcement preferred
Drivers License required
International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety required
Job Summary
The Security Officer is an essential component of the security team. This person assumes a personal lead in providing a reasonably safe and secure environment. Members of Security will present a positive, cheerful, and helpful attitude in contacts with co-workers, patients, staff and visitors or when responding to requests for service. This position’s main duty is to protect patients, visitors, and staff from harm. Officers are required to use force when appropriate to protect our customers and associates. Officers may be armed as appropriate
