Under direct supervision of the Fire Alarm Inspection Supervisor, performs general inspection, testing, corrective and preventative maintenance of fire/life safety equipment throughout PIH Health.
Knowledge and experience in suppression systems and special extinguishing systems such as Halon and FM-200.
Strong communication skills; excellent telephone manner; strong English and grammar skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, and under the pressure of deadlines.
Strong knowledge and experience with testing complex fire alarm system, smoke management system, emergency power system, and water delivery systems.
Strong background in servicing and troubleshooting Fire/Life Safety Systems and their components, specifically (Edwards EST-3)
Required:
Minimum one (3) years of experience in fire life safety inspections and testing.
Demonstrate competence in electrical mechanical and fire life safety equipment.
Valid California Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
LA City Fire Card within six (6) months of employment (PHGSH only)
Violence Intervention Prevention Training (VIP) within 3 months of employment (PHGSH only)
Preferred:
High School, GED or trade school graduate preferred with courses in arithmetic, mathematics, and electricity.
Hospital experience.
Intermediate level computer skills; specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to read blue prints and sequence of operations.
Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and NFPA 25.
Ability to operate all types of Fire Alarm Systems which will also include the disabling of these systems.
EST-3 Certified.
NICET Certified (Level 2 or currently in process).
Los Angeles Chief's Regulation 4 Certificate of Fitness or currently in progress (in one or more categories).
