Unit Summary:
We are a 16-bed in-patient unit. We care for patients who are approaching or are at the end of life. Aggressive symptom management, complex discharge planning, and emotional support of patients and families are at the core of what we do. In addition, we care for general medicine patients undergoing a wide variety of treatment modalities from admission through discharge. We always aim to provide excellent care for all of our patients.
We care for critically ill patients in a non-ICU environment so strong assessment skills and confidence in practice abilities are a must. We manage many patients with complex needs which include mechanical ventilation and titrated infusions. The staff works to meet each individual patient and family needs and goals. They work to make them comfortable and safe regardless of the treatment options or discharge plans.
Our nurses are ELNEC trained and ongoing education is provided and encouraged. If you want to help ease the transition from life to death, while providing excellent care for all, where teamwork is valued and a multidisciplinary approach is utilized, this is the place for you.
