Summary:
The Lead Registered Nurse supervises and provides professional nursing care in the treatment of patients on assigned units or clinics, health counseling, and instructions to patients consistent with medical regimens prescribed by a clinical and medical staff. The Lead Registered Nurse provides guidance to professional nursing staff and support staff, and acts as liaison of assigned areas to provide information, request services, and respond to inquiries. Job Summary: The Lead Registered Nurse under the guidance of the ED Nurse Manager, provides systems support for ED scheduling, charging and computer processes in the Emergency Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Lead RN coordinates clinical activities of the Emergency Dept. to assure optimum quality patient care.
- Responsibilities include the appropriate assignment and supervision of nursing resources.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with focus on customer service, patient satisfaction and effective relationships with physicians and other team members.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills in team building, delegation, communication, and conflict management.
- Knowledgeable in performance improvement and continuous improvement concepts and utilizes these skills in problem identification and improvement in work processes and outcomes.
- Demonstrates a strong customer driven approach in the management of areas of responsibility.
- Serves as a role model for professional and clinical practice. Integrates the Mission and Values into operational management of the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Previous ED RN experience required. Minimum 3-5 years ED experience preferred. ED experience required in an acute care setting. Licenses/Certifications: Current NYS RN License & registration. BLS, PALS, ACLS, infection control certification required. TNCC and CEN certifications preferred.
EDUCATION:
Graduation from approved professional nursing program with an RN Degree; Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in BSN program preferred.
