Kaiser Permanente-Washington Permanente Medical Group is seeking a full-time 1.0 FTE Medical Leadership Physician to join our WPMG HQ team in Renton, Washington.

The Executive Medical Director of Operations (EMDO) reports directly to the WPMG President and Chief Executive Officer. As a member of the Executive Leadership team, the EMDO shares joint accountability with the WPMG and KFHPW executive team for creation of strategic direction of Care Delivery, sustainability of clinical practice, sustainability of our business and assurance of optimal, culturally responsive, and high-quality care for our members, all in alignment with the Kaiser Permanente strategic goals. The EMDO directs the Care Delivery WPMG leaders in operations to ensure clinical operations meets all regional strategic goals related to quality, affordability, experience, equity, and growth. Leading as one enterprise is imperative in this work so coordination and collaboration across all other WPMG departments and KFHPW as whole is required. The EMDO will work to leverage best practices, promote innovative and interdependent operational models across all practice areas. The EMDO will serve a representative of WPMG, and KFHPW when appropriate, in Washington.
Primary accountability will include operational effectiveness and facilitation of collaboration between service lines, departments, and medical centers, practice sites, hospitals, other care facilities and home care; evaluation and deployment of optimal of care delivery models; identification, alignment, and execution of evidence-based practices. Specific areas of focus and oversight include, service, patient care access, stewardship, digital health, back-office efficiency, and operational budgeting and staffing models, workforce planning and execution.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide operational oversight for the Care Delivery within KFHPW facilities and programs in collaboration with KFHPW Chief Operating Officer and drive process and organizational improvement
Accountable for the design, make-up of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care program in Washington in collaboration with KFHPW COO and coordinated with teams responsible for professional and facility contracting
Ensure high quality delivery of care to exceed accepted standards
Accountable for meeting experience standards and exceeding market benchmarks
Manage care delivery resources to keep organization fiscally sound
Manage the total cost of care in care delivery as measured by PMPM
Provide oversight where and how Care Delivery within the KFHPW network occurs and ensure smooth coordination between the internal delivery system with a focus on optimal internalization
Oversee WPMG leaders and chief roles and responsibilities to execute the KPWA strategic plan
Responsible for the Clinician resource methodology and allocation for KPWA
Ensure responsibilities of WPMG and KFHP as outlined in the Medical Services Agreement (MSA) are fulfilled to maintain a fully functional Care Delivery system
WPMG member of the Joint Leadership Team for KPWA
Direction of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of new care delivery models in Washington
Financial management for target setting for Care Delivery and WPMG
WPMG representative for rate setting and regional growth
Provide input and advocate for capital expenditures
Participation in expanding markets
Collaborate with KFHP colleagues for business line growth strategies
Provide WPMG perspective in the KPWA labor relations
Lead as One KP across the enterprise

Shareholder or eligible for shareholder status
Board Certified by ABMS or member of ACPE
10 or more years
Extensive background in medical operation
Previous experience in direct supervision in medical operations
Previous experience in building strong partnership in a matrix organization
Proven experience in patronship with external vendors, partners, and networks
