The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is seeking well-qualified Registered Nurses to work as the Community Living Center (CLC) Nurse Educator. The CLC Nurse Educator demonstrates leadership characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility for the coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning opportunities and/or integrated educational programs for staff, patients, and families in the Community Living Center to include the Hospice & Palliative Care programs. Within the framework of the Professional Staff Development department, the CLC Nurse Educator is a pivotal member of the CLC Leadership team. He/she partners with the Chief Nurse and Nurse Managers of the CLC to ensure staff are competent in providing the highest quality care. The primary functions of this position include, but are not limited to: In partnership with CLC Leadership, designs, coordinates, presents, documents, and evaluates educational programs to meet the needs of the CLC staff, including new staff orientation. Communicates on a regular basis with CLC Leadership the progress new staff through their orientation. Partners with the CLC Nurse Leadership team to assess educational needs/competencies of the staff. Collaborates with relevant subject matter experts to design, present, document and evaluate learning opportunities and competencies. Maintains learning records (physical or as TMS administrator) for CLC Staff; coordinates with CLC Nurse Leadership when staff are identified as delinquent on learnings or having difficulty with competence. Actively participates with CLC Leadership in survey readiness efforts; coordinates with CLC Nurse Leadership after surveys to develop and implement action plans. In collaboration with the Hospice & Palliative Care program, coordinates the hospice and palliative care education programs for the CLC and the VA Medical Center. Actively participates in the CLC continuous quality improvement efforts. Actively collaborates with other Nurse Educators within the Professional Staff Development department providing and supporting all facility-wide orientation, training, residency, and applicable competencies. Establishes and maintains collaborative, interdepartmental relationships that promote patient safety and clinical excellence through the application of evidence-based practice education and continual quality improvement. Provides leadership in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to implement outcome focused patient care programs meeting the clinical needs of the patients, families, populations, and communities. Provides consultation to staff nurses and interdisciplinary colleagues. Evaluates nursing practice that considers safety, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, efficacy, and relationship-based care. Under the supervision of the Chief Nurse, Professional Staff Development, the CLC Nurse Educator will work in partnership and in collaboration with CLC Leadership to accomplish departmental and programmatic goals. Work Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, but tours and weekends may be variable depending on departmental and programmatic needs.
