Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders (SCI/D/D) is one of six nationally recognized Veterans Health Administration (VHA) special disability programs. The Michael Bilirakis DVA Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Center is part of the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital. We serve Veterans and active-duty Service Members with spinal cord injuries and other spinal cord disorders such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders center provides inpatient, outpatient clinic, home care services, and long-term care. Our Center serves the largest number of Veterans and Service Members with spinal cord injuries and disorders in the VA system. In addition to our primary facility in Tampa, we partner with several VA clinics in VISN 8 as part of the Hub and Spokesmodel for spinal cord injury care. The SCI/D Senior Social Worker is a master's prepared social worker focusing on providing supportive services to families and caregivers of Veterans with SCI/D and coordination of the SCI Peer Mentor program. The SCI/D Senior Social Worker facilitates efficient and appropriate delivery of care across episodes of care within the Tampa VA Medical Center. Experience working with chronic medical conditions as well as providing therapeutic interventions is preferred. Duties may include but are not limited to: The incumbent will provide direct care services to veterans, families, or caregivers within the SCI/D program. The incumbent independently completes psychosocial evaluation and assessment, and periodic reassessments of each client served. The incumbent will provide individual, family, and group counseling aimed at helping the Veteran, his family, and caregiver cope with SCI/D. The incumbent establishes and maintains an ongoing education and training program for Peer Mentors. Incumbent practices independently, using professional judgment and expertise to make decisions about services and treatment provided to Veterans and their significant others/family members. Incumbent provides cross-coverage to other Social Workers within SCI/D. Work Schedule: M-F, 8 AM -4:30 PM Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
