This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be February 16, 2021 and applicants will be referred on an 'as needed' basis thereafter. This Nursing Assistant position is located on the Community Living Center at VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System in Leeds, MA. Nursing Assistants perform a range of nursing care activities while assigned to the Community Living Center. In addition to performing activities of daily living and documentation, the Nursing Assistant demonstrates an understanding of each member of the interdisciplinary team's role and appropriately communicates with members to promote positive outcomes. Work consists of personal care duties, treatments, documentation, remotivation therapy, and patient teaching. Recurring duties and carried out independently. Veterans age 18 through the geriatric years are served with all diagnoses found in late adolescence, early mid-life and late adulthood. Some duties include but are not limited to: Escorting patients/residents safely both on and off station. Is able to follow standard precaution and other infection control protocols as needed. Demonstrates knowledge of basic health care provider skills. Provides 1:1 or Safety Sitter nursing care to patient's/resident's who may require restraints or special observation. Understands patient's/resident's rights and responsibilities. Maintains a safe, secure environment of patients/residents staff, significant others and visitors as addresses in the VAMC Safety Manual. Provides comprehensive physical care to patients/residents. Motivating patients/residents toward optimal level of functioning. Work Schedule: Multiple schedules available. Applicants may be selected for any tour or schedule based on availability. Schedules may include days, evenings, nights, rotations, holidays and/or weekends. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
