The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center is recruiting for highly qualified Nurse Practitioner to serve in the Gastroenterology Section of Medicine Service in Charleston, SC. The Gastroenterology (GI)/ Hepatology (Hep) Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide health care treatment to Veterans in accordance with individual patient needs determined by standards of adult health care practice, hospital policy and procedures, and in collaboration with other members of the GI team, Medical Service at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center (RHJVAMC). The NP works closely with the GI/Hep Section, GI Lab RN's, fellows, clinic staff, and staff gastroenterologists/hepatologists. The Practitioner is responsible for screening and assuring that all GI/Hep consults are appropriately processed to include both VA and Non VA care. The NP also performs pre-procedure assessments of patients referred for GI procedures if patient history is questionable for appropriateness of the procedure. As a NP you will provide prescribed medical treatments and personal care service to ill and injured veterans. Expectation should include significant outpatient clinic responsibility. Duties include documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; manage patient care in an manner which promotes positive patient care outcomes; providing a full range of care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and be accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of your assigned position. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors, and members of the interdisciplinary team.
