The Orthopedic Oncology group led by Dr. James Wittig at Morristown Medical center is looking for a well qualified Full Time Physician Assistant with Orthopedic Experience. Responsibilities Essential Job Function: - Obtains a detailed and accurate history, performs physical examinations and identifies problems in the office, clinic, emergency room and hospital setting
- Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
- Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals
- Conduct independent office hours as part of an initial consultation and/or follow up visit
- Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens
- Conduct hospital rounds and consultations, write orders, and take call for the Orthopaedic surgeon
- Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories and physicals
- Write postoperative orders, admission orders, brief operative notes
- Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer Medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other Orthopaedic devices
- Develops health education programs and materials
Qualifications Knowledge, Education and Skills: - Successful completion of an approved physicians assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
- min 3-5 years of orthopedic experience preferred (2020 graduates will not be considered)
Required Certification/Licensing: - Certification by the National Commission for Certified Physicians Assistants
- Registered and licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.
- RNFA preferred
