·Develops, reviews, and revises annual nursing staff competencies through the use of various educational activities.
·Provides educational support for changes in care delivery.
·Assists in the planning and implementation of new procedures and/or processes.
·Provides continuing education opportunities as indicated by staff needs and directors requests.
·Collaborates with directors and other managers with input on staff performance evaluations.
·Facilitates on-boarding of new staff members.
·Develops, reviews and revises new nursing departmental staff initial competencies.
·Develops and evaluates unit-based orientation programs.
·Supports preceptor development using a variety of educational activities.
·Supervises new nursing orientation progress and progression to independent practice.
·Develops educational curriculum for new processes/initiatives/equipment training.
·Evaluates the new processes/initiatives/equipment training results.
·Monitors compliance with new processes/initiatives/equipment changes as indicated.
·Identifies opportunities for care delivery improvement.
·Participates in teaching classes for continuing education for house-wide and nursing departmental initiatives.
·Coordinates and provides required certification courses (ACLS, PALS, BLS) for staff as needed.
·Participates in active communication with nursing staff, nursing leadership, other clinical departments and medical staff.
·Participates in or leads hospital meetings or committees as assigned.
