Palliative care reduces the severity of a disease or slows its progress rather than providing a cure. For incurable diseases, in cases where the cure is not recommended due to other health concerns and when the patient does not wish to pursue a cure, palliative care becomes the focus of treatment. It may occasionally be used in conjunction with curative therapy.
The Cancer Institute at Geisinger, a national leader in quality, innovation, research and education, is seeking a BC/BE fellowship-trained Palliative Medicine physician located in Danville, Pennsylvania. Our new associate will join a well-established team of five palliative medicine physicians, two nurse practitioners, one hospice liaison, and one nurse navigator. In addition to teaching medical students and residents, our program has an ACGME-accredited hospice and palliative medicine fellowship. This is a fantastic opportunity for a new graduate or experienced palliative physician. The region offers a hassle-free community living allowing for a balanced professional career and a fulfilling personal lifestyle while in close proximity to NYC and Philadelphia.
