Specialized role in which qualified registered nursing staff are assigned a cluster (a series of units) based on their clinical expertise, skill, and organization/unit need. Expected to assume the same patient assignments as other nursing staff on the assigned unit. Expected to provide total patient care from admission to discharge. Expected to care for patients in clusters from infancy to geriatrics. Assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. Receives assistance from other healthcare professionals and their expertise. Knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients.Following a competency based formal orientation, competent performance is expected. Must practice within the legal scope of practice of registered nursing staff. Must have strong flexibility and organizational skills and be able to adapt to multiple units and patient populations. Must be able to demonstrate independence, assertiveness and critical thinking when working with various patient populations and employees. Must have strong interdependence, collaboration, and delegation skills to work within various teams and department cultures. Must like change and be willing to adapt as necessary to changing environments and cultures.
Scheduled work hours will vary dependent on patient and unit needs. This may include overtime, under-time, call, standy-bys, nights, days, weekends and holidays.
Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required by position. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications (i.e. - ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, etc.). Refer to CRP Clinical pathway and orientation guidelines for further detail. Functions within legal RN scope of practice. Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable. Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
