Yuma is located in the Southwest corner of Arizona, 3 ½ hours Southwest of Phoenix. Yuma is the county seat and largest city of Yuma County, one of Arizona's original eight counties. It is the 11th largest city in the state, with an estimated population of 91,105. With the arrival of sun-seeking snowbirds, the population doubles during the peak travel months of January, February and March.Yuma is officially know as the sunniest city in the United States, with an "annual average possible sunshine" ranking of 90 percent, based on at nearly five decades of official government records. Beautiful desert scenery along side of green irrigated farm land makes the area a very special place to be. Average annual rainfall is around three inches a year, and humidity is generally low except during the summer monsoon season. Nights can be cool during the winter - that's why you'll see Yum-ans bundled up while visitors go coat-less - but hard freezes are rare, allowing vegetables and citrus to flourish through the winter.
To be considered for the position, candidates must have or be able to obtain a license to practice medicine in the State of Arizona as an MD or DO, have privileges or be eligible to obtain privileges to practice at Yuma Regional Medical Center and be Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Family Practice, Internal Medicine or other specialty.
